Scott Donaldson, making his BetVictor Championship League debut, is top of the table after the first day of play in Group 4 of the competition at Morningside Arena, Leicester.
This is the 100th group of BetVictor Championship League Snooker to be played in the 13-season history of the tournament, which is broadcast on a host of betting websites and on zhibo.tv, one of the biggest sports streaming platforms in China.
Donaldson has won all three of his matches so far, as has Kyren Wilson who is second having conceded five frames to Donaldson’s three.
Ali Carter and Graeme Dott have both played four matches, winning two apiece while Matt Selt and Joe Perry have both won one match, having played three and four fixtures respectively.
The tables have turned for Tom Ford, who led Group 3 at this stage. He is yet to win after three matches but can take some comfort from having taken six frames which could prove crucial should he finish tied on points with any other players at the end of the league phase.
Each of the seven players faces each other once in the round-robin group stage, after which the top four players in the league table progress to Thursday evening’s play-offs. The eventual group champion advances to Winners’ Group in March with the remaining players who finished in the top five during the league phase continuing to group three later this month, where three new players join the tournament.
The bottom two players in each group phase are eliminated. All matches are best of five.
BetVictor Championship League Snooker is a venture between Matchroom Sport and Perform where 25 of the game’s elite players compete for their share of a total prize pot of up to £205,000.
Group Four continues at 11am on Thursday. Live scoring can be found at www.worldsnooker.com. Group fixtures and results can be found at https://championshipleaguesnooker.co.uk/
