Jack Lisowski is through to the Winners’ Group of Championship League Snooker after beating Luca Brecel 3-0 in the Group Three final in just 27 minutes at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Lisowski, who lost to Neil Robertson in the Group One final, is making his Championship League debut and topped the round robin group table before beating Jimmy Robertson 3-2 in his semi-final match. Championship League Snooker is broadcast on a host of betting websites and on Seca in China.
“It took me a few games to settle down in the first group, but I really enjoyed it,” said Lisowski. “I have been getting sharper each day and feel really sharp now going into The Masters for the first time.
“I’m pleased to get through to the Winners’ Group, that has a place in the Champion of Champions available too. It’s all new to me and I’ve really enjoyed it and look forward to coming back for the Winners’ Group.”
Lisowski will now join Group One champion Neil Robertson in Winners’ Group, which takes place at Barnsley Metrodome on March 13th and 14th. They will be joined by the winners of the next five groups. Kyren Wilson took the group high break prize for his 132 against Lisowski.
Having finished fifth in the round robin group table, Judd Trump will return to compete in Group Three along with Brecel, Wilson and Jimmy Robertson. They will be joined by Mark Selby, Barry Hawkins and Stuart Bingham.
Championship League Snooker is a venture between Matchroom Sport and Perform where 25 of the game’s elite players compete with matches broadcast on a host of betting websites and on Seca in China.
Each group features seven players with each man playing the other six once in a round-robin basis. Every match is the best of five and the winner gains one point with the loser getting zero.
At the end of the league phase the top four advances to that group’s semi-finals before the two winners meet in the final and the group champion advances to the Winners’ Group in March. The losing finalist, two losing semi-finalists and player finishing fifth move into the next group where they are joined by three new players and the process is repeated.
Group Three commences at 11am on Monday January 7th . Live scoring can be found at www.worldsnooker.com. Group fixtures and results can be found at https://championshipleaguesnooker.co.uk/
