STEPHEN MAGUIRE CROWNED 2025 BETVICTOR CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE SNOOKER RANKING CHAMPION

Ranking July 23rd, 2025

Stephen Maguire has been crowned the 2025 BetVictor Championship League Snooker Ranking champion after defeating Joe O’Connor 3-1 in the final. The victory earns the Scotsman a £33,000 winner’s cheque and marks his seventh career ranking title.

Reflecting on his triumph, Maguire said: “It’s been a long month and a half – this is a great reward at the end. Coming in today, it felt more important than the last time I was here. To be the last man standing after such a long stretch, I feel over the moon. This gives me a great start heading into the rest of the season.”

Maguire faced Leicester’s own Joe O’Connor in the final and surged into a two-frame lead. O’Connor responded with a brilliant break of 103 to pull one back, but Maguire closed out the match in style, compiling a break of 89 in the fourth frame to seal the title.

Earlier in the day, Maguire had produced commanding performances to whitewash both Matthew Selt and Ben Mertens 3-0. Despite falling short to Pang Junxu in his final match by 3-1, the 44-year-old topped Group Two in Stage Three by a single match win, edging Mertens into second place.

His road to the title was long but impressive. Maguire came through his initial group on the first day of the tournament with a perfect record of three wins from three. Returning the following month for Stage Two, he once again topped the group—this time with two wins and a draw—maintaining momentum through to the final stages.

Now, with the Championship League title secured, Maguire not only takes home the £33,000 prize but also earns a coveted place in this year’s Champion of Champions. The prestigious invitational returns to the Mattioli Arena in Leicester from 10–16 November.
