JIMMY ROBERTSON TOPS GROUP 4 AFTER TURNING ROUND BAD START

Invitational February 7th, 2024

Jimmy Robertson leads the pack after the first day of Group 4 in Championship League Snooker Invitational, after coming back to win his last two matches at Morningside Arena, Leicester on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old had suffered two defeats to John Higgins and Neil Robertson earlier in the day and sat bottom of the league table.

However, the Bexhill potter had turned his fortunes round in beating Barry Hawkins 3-1 and Kyren Wilson 3-0, taking him to the top of the league by virtue of the head-to-head record over the Hawk.

Hawkins had forced out Xiao Guodong in Table 2’s final match of the evening, with the Chinese potter himself looking a strong contender to sit at the top of the table after an unbeaten start to the day. With defeat against Hawkins though, he’ll begin play tomorrow from 3rd position.

It was a day to forget for Group 3 finalist John Higgins, who despite having won his opening fixture 3-2 against Jimmy Robertson, was unable to claim another point and enters tomorrows play at the foot of the league.

Play begins from 11am tomorrow, with UK viewers able to watch on Matchroom.live.
