Fu enjoyed arguably the best season of his career in 2013/14, finishing in eighth place in the world rankings.

The Hong Kong ace won the second world ranking title of his career at the 2013 Australian Goldfields Open, beating the likes of Ken Doherty and Shaun Murphy to reach the final before seeing off home favourite Neil Robertson 9-6.

That earned him entry into last season’s Champion ofChampions, but he lost his group semi-final 4-1 to Judd Trump.

From his success down under, Fu went on to reach the final of the International Championship in China and came so close to the biggest title of his career, but was edged out 10-9 by Ding Junhui in a thrilling contest.

Showing a high level of consistency, Fu also got to the semi-finals of the Welsh Open and Players Championship but suffered a last 16 defeat against Shaun Murphy at the World Championship.

Fu enters the Champion of Champions as the highest ranked player not to have already qualified.
