Si Jiahui secured the Group Two victory at the 2025 BetVictor Championship League Snooker Invitational edition at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, after staging an impressive comeback from 2-0 down to defeat World Championship runner-up Jak Jones 3-2 in the final, earning a coveted spot in the Winners’ Group.
The 22-year-old Chinese star showcased exceptional form over the two days, with league wins against Chris Wakelin, Robert Milkins, Pang Junxu, and Ryan Day, topping the group stage table with five victories and 16 frames won – the most in the group.
In the final, Jak Jones looked poised for triumph as he surged to a 2-0 lead, but an untimely error in the third frame saw him accidentally pot the blue while sinking a red, gifting Jiahui the opening he needed to turn the match around. Jiahui capitalised to take the third frame, levelled the match in the fourth, and closed it out with clinical precision in the decider, capping off a thrilling comeback.
Jones reached the final for the second consecutive group after a commanding 3-1 victory over Ali Carter in the semi-finals, while Jiahui battled past Chris Wakelin 3-2 to book his place in the group final.
Jiahui’s dominance in the group stage set the tone for his success, as he claimed the top spot with five wins from six matches. Ali Carter finished second in the standings, narrowly edging out Jones, Wakelin, and Milkins, all of whom recorded three wins apiece. Carter’s tally of 15 frames, bolstered by two tightly contested matches on the first day, proved decisive.
Jak Jones secured third place with a standout performance on the second day, including an incredible 147 in a 3-0 victory over Wakelin. That result saw Wakelin slip to fourth, while Robert Milkins finished fifth to secure his progression to Group Three.
Pang Junxu and Ryan Day both struggled to find consistency, winning just two of their six matches and exiting the tournament as a result.
Jones, Carter, Wakelin, and Milkins will return tomorrow in Group Three, where they’ll be joined by snooker heavyweights Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, and reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson in what promises to be another captivating chapter of the 2025 BetVictor Championship League Snooker Invitational.
