Defending champion Mark Selby secured his place in the Winners’ Group with a commanding performance in the Group Four final, delivering a flawless 3-0 whitewash over Jak Jones.
Selby earned his spot in the final with a 3-1 victory over Joe O’Connor in the semi-finals. O’Connor had a chance to level the match in the fourth frame but faltered on a crucial red, allowing Selby to seize the opportunity and secure the frame with a single-point clearance.
Jak Jones reached his fourth consecutive Championship League final after an intense battle with Stuart Bingham. The match went the distance, but Jones produced a stunning clearance of 113 in the deciding frame to clinch a 3-2 victory and advance.
While Bingham fell short of the final, his performance in the group stage was exceptional. He topped the standings with five wins, the most in Group Four, and also delivered the day’s highest break, an impressive 143. Joe O’Connor matched Selby’s tally of four match wins but finished second in the group standings due to a frame difference of three over Selby.
Jak Jones narrowly made it to the semi-finals, edging out Matt Selt by just one frame in the standings. Selt, unable to progress to the Winners’ Group, will continue his campaign in Group Five. Meanwhile, Jimmy Robertson and Jackson Page struggled in the group stage, each managing only one match win, resulting in their elimination from the tournament.
Bingham, Jones, O’Connor, and Selt advance to Group Five, where they will face World Number One Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, and Tom Ford. The action resumes on Monday, 20th January, as all seven players compete for a coveted place in the Winners’ Group.
